A Seminar on Control and Perception of Complex Autonomous Robotics Systems Conducted by KICS UET Lahore
Lahore, 15th October, 2019 – National Centre of Artificial Intelligence (NCAI) of Al-Khawarazmi Institute of Computer Science (KICS) organized a seminar on ‘Control and Perception of Complex Autonomous Robotics Systems’ on October 14th 2019 in seminar hall of KICS at University of Engineering and Technology Lahore. Invited speakers of this seminar were Prof. Dr. Karsten Berns and Dr. Zuhair Zafar. All researchers, students and faculty took deep interest in this much-in-talks concept that has gained focus of the world these days. Sensing the importance of robotics, KICS UET organized this seminar so that the latest technological developments in this field can be discussed and reach to the researchers. Vast attendance was seen at the hall. This seminar was conducted on a special request of Dr. Shiekh Faisal Rashid, who is an alumni of University of Kaiserslautern and is the director AI Research Labs and Co-PI National Center of AI (NCAI) KICS. Dr. Faisal obtained his Doctorate of Engineering (Dr.-Ing) from the same university in 2014 and has strong academic relations and collaborations with Prof. Dr. Karsten Berns for more than a decade.

Awareness Seminar for Huawei ICT Competition 2019 to Be Held in UET Lahore on 14th Oct
HUTIC Lab of Al-Khawarazmi Institute of Computer Science (KICS) is organizing a seminar on ‘Huawei ICT Competition 2019’ on October 14, 2019, 11:00 AM in Main Auditorium of UET. This mega event is a complete roadmap towards students’ career growth, international certifications and internships/jobs opportunities at Huawei. HEC and Huawei Officials from Pakistan and Middle East Region will join this event. In previous competitions, a number of top national winners have visited Huawei Headquarters in China for the final rounds – many of them were from UET Lahore and have bagged top positions there. Rush to Attend IoT Conference on ‘Emerging Security Challenges in Internet of Things’ on 30th September 2019 at KICS UET
Renewable Energy and Efficiency Conference 2019 Held at Expo Lahore by , CERAD, KICS and UET Lahore
Lahore, 26th September, 2019 – Renewable Energy and Efficiency Conference 2019 was held at Lahore Expo Center on 26th September. It was co-organized by E-Commerce Gateway Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd, CERAD (Centre for Energy Research and Development), KICS (Al-Khawarazmi Institute of Computer Science) and UET (University of Engineering and Technology), Lahore.
It consisted of two sessions – one was held before lunch and the other was after the lunch. The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Dr. Khursheed Nizam, the owner of Jamal Yellow Pages of Paskistan) who shared his valuable life and career experiences with the audience as how did he became an MBBS doctor and then how did he start his business with merely 10,000 rupees in 1983? He told his journey from the 10,000 Rs. business to 150 crores business of today. A visual was played about the activities on CERAD and KICS UET.
Next followed the sessions laced with talks by the expert speakers from the field of renewable energy. Few talks were also delivered on some other subjects. The talks, which were delivered on renewable energy included ‘Inverters for Microgrids’, ‘Energy Efficiency in Smart Buildings’, ‘Energy Extraction from Safe Muncipal Waste Using Nano Technology’ (this talk was further discussed by two other speakers from industry – Mr. Rehan from Rehan Industries and Mr. Sajid), Energy Efficiency’. Save Energy Campaign’s Latest Round in KICS UET
Save Energy’s latest round has been done at Al-Khawarazmi Institute of Computer Science’s labs where the managers of the labs took the step to paste the energy saving posters in their labs to spread awareness. They also talked about the energy saving and let their staff know and act on the same.

Energy Extraction Using Waste Project Launched in UET Lahore
Center for Energy Research and Development’s much-awaited project ‘Energy Extraction by Safe Disposal of Municipal Waste Using Nanotechnology’ has now been officially launched at University of Engineering and Technology Lahore where Director CERAD Prof. Dr. Waqar Mahmood along with Prof. Jamshed Bhatti from Physics Department of UET Lahore, AERIL Lab KICS’ Manager Imran Ali Shah, Research Officer Talall Ahmed (who is behind this research and execution of the project along with the entire team) and faculty members graced the launch event. This project’s need emerged because the disposal of municipal wastes was a major concern for environment and health of the public. The wastes are either disposed of in landfills or recycled. Landfills are increasing both land and water pollution. When this waste meets the ground water, it leads to water contamination. When these wastes are recycled, there emerges a great risk of reuse and transfer of diseases as high temperature melting doesn’t ensure 100 percent disinfection.

KICS UET Launches Campaigns for Save Paper and Save Nature – The Optimal Use of Office Utilities
‘Save Paper’ and ‘Save Nature’ are what KICS and UET have geared up and the campaigns for the same have been launched in these manners. Vice Chancellor UET Lahore has directed for austerity and cost reduction and following his direction, KICS has launched awareness. For the effective use of office utilities, the administration and management of Al-Khawarazmi Institute of Cimputer Science (KICS) has initiated the plans to launch few campaigns in the coming months.
